Once
you login, you'll see "Courses in which you are participating."
Click on the course you would like view.

Click on the left hand side where you see "discussion
board."

Click on "Web Forums" (or the forum in which you would
like to participate.)
-
You are now in the discussion board.

Click on the message subject (not the author of the message.)

From here you can reply to the message or email the author of
the message.

Clicking "ok" will return to the discussion board main page.

You can only modify a message of which you are the author.
-
Click on the message you wish to modify or remove.

Click on the appropriate button. (Modify and Remove buttons
will be at the top on the right hand side if you are the author.)

Make necessary changes and click "Submit."

From the main discussion board screen, click on "Add New
Thread."

In the subject field, type in the name for the new topic.

Type your message.
-
Click "Submit."
-
Click on the message subject (not the author of the message.)
-
Click on the reply button.
-
Type your message.
-
Click on the submit button.
-
If you don't see checkboxes to the
left of the messages, click on the icon labeled Show Options on the right side
of the screen above the list of messages

Click on the boxes next to the messages you would like to
view. A check should appear in those boxes.

When all the messages you would like to view are selected,
click on the "Collect" option button at the top.
-
You can now use the scroll bar to
view a list of messages.
-
To return to the main discussion page, click on ok
at the bottom of the list of messages. To
reply to any message, click on the reply button at the bottom of that message.
Troubleshooting - can't enter text into a discussion board
thread
This
can happen if the security settings in internet Explorer do not allow
Active X controls to run. Here is some information from the blackboard
support site.
Solution: In
Internet Explorer's security settings, make sure the setting for "Run
ActiveX Controls and Plugins" is set to enable for the Internet zone

resolve this problem in IE.

Open IE
-
From the Tools menu, select
internet options...
-
Select the Security tab
-
Make sure Internet is highlighted as the
web content zone at the top
-
Click Custom Level...
-
Under settings, look for Run ActiveX
controls and plug-ins
-
Set this option to Enable.
-
Click OK
-
Click Yes when asked
Are you sure you want to change the security settings for this zone?
-
Click OK
You should now have a text
