Passwords for new students/faculty set to the
user's 3 initials followed by the last 4 digits of the user's social security
number. If a middle initial was not available, we used 2 initials, the
first and last.
Changing your password
You may change your password at any time while you are logged into
Blackboard by clicking on the My Institution tab. Click on the option
Personal Information; Change Password and then enter the new password.
Forgotten Passwords
Even if you do not know your password, you can still change your
password. Go to the main Blackboard page (http://bb.hollins.edu) and
click on Login. On the login (Welcome) page, click on the link 'Forgot
your password? Enter your first name, your last name and either your
blackboard username or your email address. If you enter valid information, you
will receive the following message

A message has been sent
to the e-mail address registered for user username. The message
contains instructions on how to change your password. If this is not a
valid e-mail address, you will not be able to change your password. |
Blackboard will send you a mail message that has a link in it. Cut
the link from the mail message and paste the link into your browser and press enter. A page will appear
that contains a dialog box for entering a new password. (Note:
if you double click on the link in the email message, you may be sent to the
page which asks you for your account information again rather than the page
which allows you to reset your password. To avoid this, cut and paste
the link).
Usernames
Your blackboard username is the same as your network
username. This is
usually your last name followed by your first and middle initial. If this
doesn't work, call Ellen Witt (x6020) to find out your username. (Some
groups were set up with a different standard - they should have received
information about their username and password via email).
