The Safe Haven Program is a series of training
workshops offered through Intercultural Programs in an attempt to
continue to build a more inclusive and socially aware campus. This
program has been designed to assist those who wish to better advocate
for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ) community, as
well as other oppressed groups.
The goals are to:
dispel many
familiar stereotypes and myths about homosexuality
learn about the
experience of LGBTQ college students
encourage
participants to challenge prejudice, discrimination, and oppression
on campus
create visible
"safe" spaces (all participants will receive a certificate of
completion to be posted in or outside of their room/office)
become an ally
facilitate future
Safe Haven trainings (peer to peer training sessions)
