Academic Outreach Academic Outreach Cultural & Community Engagement, in collaboration with the Dean of Academic Services, assists in retention efforts by monitoring potential academic difficulties, and providing academic 'coaching' and referrals. The Dean of Academic Services maintains an Early Warning System, which solicits students' academic progress from faculty. A memo is mailed to the student notifying the faculty's concerns, as well as encouraging them to set up an appointment with the professor (s), Dean of Academic Services, and/or advisor. If the student is an under-represented student or international student, they will receive a letter of encouragement from the Associate Dean of Cultural & Community Engagement (following the Dean's notification), as well as a follow up call to develop an academic success plan.
Certificate of Academic Excellence Cultural & Community Engagement recognizes and celebrates student's efforts to making their education a priority. Students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or better will receive a certificate of Academic Excellence in recognition of their hard work and determination. 121003 |
