Diversity Training and Workshops

Inclusion & Cultural Awareness

Programming is available to all students interested in exploring issues relating to social justice. What students have learned and from whom they have learned it, affects their attitude about everything relating to diversity and inclusion. These sessions are designed to meet the needs/goals of the particular group of leaders, residence hall or club/organization. We discuss current issues, work on raising a new consciousness on issues of diversity and inclusion, explore the significance of social identities, climate changes, as well as strategies to better educate for social justice.

Safe Haven Training

The Safe Haven Program is a series of training workshops offered through Intercultural Programs in an attempt to continue to build a more inclusive and socially aware campus. This program has been designed to assist those who wish to better advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, as well as other oppressed groups.

The goals are to:

  • dispel many familiar stereotypes and myths about homosexuality
  • learn about the experience of LGBT college students
  • encourage participants to challenge prejudice, discrimination, and oppression on campus
  • create visible "safe" spaces (all participants will receive a certificate of completion to be posted in or outside of their room/office)
  • become an ally
  • facilitate future Safe Haven trainings (peer to peer training sessions)
  • and much more...

Topics include:

  • coming out process
  • understanding LGBT people of color
  • becoming an ally
  • community resources
