External Relations Administrative Assistant

Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of External Relations Administrative Assistant. 

This position provides administrative assistance to the alumnae and donor relations departments, serves as the phone and in-person receptionist for the External Relations division, greets and provides information to campus visitors, and prepares donor acknowledgement letters and reports. 

The successful applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; minimum of three years’ experience in a related field; Microsoft Office proficiency, especially with Word and Excel; strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills; ability to work independently; and a commitment to customer service.

Director of Financial Aid

Hollins University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Financial Aid. The Director of Financial Aid reports to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid and oversees counseling for students and families to ensure that financial aid funds are distributed fairly, equitably, and in compliance with federal, state, and budgetary guidelines. S/he is the primary spokesperson for Hollins regarding financial aid policies both internally with students and families and externally for admissions recruitment purposes. The position interfaces closely with the Business Office, and requires well-coordinated communication between the departments to ensure consistency in information provided to students. The director provides leadership in establishing and interpreting financial aid policies, setting financial aid criteria, and developing strategies to assist students and families within the context of Hollins University’s commitment to affordability and a need-blind admissions policy.

The successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years of increasing responsibility and leadership experience in financial aid at comparable institutions. The successful candidate will also be a person who has demonstrated both competency and leadership in strategic thinking, the ability to translate business strategy into operational action, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a commitment to an open and participatory leadership style, and the ability to multi-task in the face of competing demands. Expert knowledge of policies, practices, and laws governing financial aid and related student information systems is also required.  Experience with SCT Banner is preferred.

Vice President for External Relations

Hollins University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for External Relations.  The Vice President for External Relations reports directly to the President and serves on the President’s cabinet.  Serving as the university’s senior professional fundraiser, the primary responsibility for this position is to provide executive leadership for all development, alumnae relations, and marketing activities of the university, while advancing the core mission of Hollins.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to, leading the development, alumnae, and marketing staffs in strategic planning, fundraising, marketing and budgeting, as well as strengthening relationships between the university and its alumnae, parents, donors and prospective donors, students and prospective students, volunteers, trustees, and community members.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree; extensive training in the areas of major gifts, alumnae relations, planned giving, special events, marketing, and communications programs; and 8-10 years of successful fundraising experience.  Master’s degree and CFRE preferred.  He/she will also be dynamic and goal-driven, and able to embrace and articulate the mission and aspirations of an independent, liberal arts university with a commitment to women’s education.  This individual should have significant senior-level administration experience, including staff supervision and development; excellent fundraising skills, including the cultivation, solicitation, and securing of major six-figure gifts; and experience planning and executing capital campaigns.  Superb interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to travel are also required.

Security Officer

Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of security officer.  This position provides safety and security for the university during prescribed hours in order to protect the institution’s assets, properties, students, employees, guests, and visitors against disturbances, fires, injury, vandalism, theft, violence, and criminal acts.  Current shift is 6 p.m. – 4 a.m., four days per week with rotating days off. 

Successful applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, campus law enforcement or security experience preferred, a valid and clear driver’s license, good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and abilities to work independently and deal effectively with diverse populations.  Basic DCJS campus security officer training is preferred.  Candidates will be subject to a background investigation including criminal history, motor vehicle, and reference checks.

Custodian

Hollins University is seeking candidates for a full-time (40 hours/week) custodian who can work hours to satisfy the needs of the university.  Hours are Mon.-Fri., 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and will include periodic weekend work. 

Qualifications include the ability to perform basic housekeeping functions (dusting, vacuuming, use of floor care equipment, bathroom sanitation, etc.) and may involve furniture moving and setup.  Candidates must have a valid and clear driver’s license, be able to climb stairs, and have the ability to lift (up to 50 lbs).  Must also be a self-starter, team player, and have the ability to follow directions.  Will be subject to a background investigation including criminal history, motor vehicle, and reference checks.
