About the Interviewer

            My name is Katie Carpenter and I am originally from Clifton Park, which is a suburb located in upstate New York (yes, New York is a whole state). I have now studied at Hollins for four years, and will hopefully graduate in May with a degree in Sociology. One thing that I can say with confidence is that I really love what I study. I was originally drawn to sociology because of the social aspect of it. Learning about society; other cultures and social relationships in particular, has broadened my global perspective. In addition to this, I have been blessed with many opportunities to travel and experience new people and cultures for myself. I adore the friends that I’ve made because each one of them has taught me something and has helped me develop as a person. In the future, I hope to be able to utilize these experiences and knowledge to do something really beneficial for others. There are so many people in this world that have the ability to do big things, and I would like to think that I am one of them.
