| About the Interviewer | |
| My name is Kaitlin Spas and I'm currently a senior at Hollins. My major is in Communication Studies and I originally took this class to fulfill a requirement for my minor in Sociology. Since I've been in the class I've seen more and more how life histories are relevant to my other interests. Through this class I've also had an amazing opportunity to come to know Lori Maddox (my interviewee!) and learn about her work at ELAW in environmental activism. I've found her work inspiring and I've learned from what she has shared with me about cross-cultural communication and community legal education. | |
| It was an incredible experience for me to talk to someone who works in environmental law, since this is the field I hope to find a career in, and learn how she became involved and what the job really entails. I also like to think that I made a friend. | |
| I grew up in Utah, a beautiful state full of great people, and became interested in environmental activism when NEVCO proposed building a coal-fired power plant in my town. I like the idea that by affecting environmental issues I could help the people that are affected by them. |
