Research Questions

Some of the questions to be explored as part of this research include:

  1. What kinds of social change work have Hollins alumnae engaged in since graduating?
  2. Do Hollins alumnae think of themselves as ‘activists’, and if so, how do they define that term.
  3. What are their motivations for engaging in social change work?
  4. In what ways to race, class, gender, nationality and education influence their social action?
  5. In their life histories, what types of framing devices do women utilize to talk about and understand their social change work over their life trajectories?
  6. How do these women see their (single sex) education at Hollins as informing the social change work that they have done/are doing?
