I had no idea what Anthropology really was about, and many of my friends recommended to take Anthropology at Hollins...They talk a lot about the Anthropology classes here...and I am a very curious person who always wants to try new things...So, I planned to take introduction of Anthropology, but my schedule conflicted with my major required classes...and then I had no choice than choosing this class. I love it so far.....yes! I would recommend other students When I first got the syllabus for this class, I thought it would be "fun"...and "easy"...When this interview project was introduced, still sounded ok, not a big deal.... UNTIL I really put my hands on, and started...I began to realize it was a "REAL" deal, not just for fun or a test..... one surprise to another. I never took any anthropology course or anything that was related to this subject before. All my knowledge about anthro was so different with what I plant to do soon......Hmm....It was scary and I just kept saying...."Oh...my ghost......how the -heck- am I going to do this?...It 's too late to drop now :(..." |

Yes! This is a hard work class! But I ENJOY it very much! Here is what I have learned so far: 1) I have realized that I have BEEN making so many mistakes in English! I did not know that I have always dropped the ending sound of words, so the meaning of a sentence is changed. Transcribing the whole interview, listening to Dr. Lykes's pronunciation repeatedly in order to understand what she say. I focused hardly enough to "suddenly" see my mistakes!!! 2) Secondly, I learn a great deal about computer. Yes! Thanks to Ellen! (Very much!) 3) This class is so real! So practical! I don't think I will forget what I have invested in this class. 4) I would strongly recommend every student take it.
