THE RESULTS...
Here are some of my favorite parts of the two interviews that I had with Miss Louise:
(Jenn): "What aspect of your life are you most proud of?"
(Miss Louise):" My 3 boys, my 2 grandkids, you Michelle [Tweedy '02] and my family. I'm just proud of my life in general. I'm just thankin' God he wakes me up everyday."
(Jenn) : What are your fears?
(Miss Louise) : "Nothing' really, If I got problems, I put that in God's hands. I don't worry about stuff, why worry about it? Yeah, I don't worry about anything, I put that in the Lord Master's hands."
(Jenn): "The last time we talked you told me about how you went to the old schoolhouse over in Hollins. Can you tell me a little about what you remember?"

(Miss Louise) : "...well it was a nice little school, and my cousin was the cook. There wasn't enough kids to go there so they closed it not to long after I left. But a whole lotta parents got mad because it was right within walking distance and it was right in the community. Many children have to go long distances now.
(Jenn) : "I know that you said previously that your aunt was a role model for you; can you tell me more about her?"
( Miss Louise) : "Well,
she's my mother's oldest sister and she raised my mother, my mother's children
and she raised my children. Now that's 3 generations. She was a Sunday school
teacher at the First Baptist Church and she was also the superintendent. She was
just a good woman. Words can't describe her. She was like our mother....She had
ran right in front of a gun that her stepfather was shootin' and lost one of her
legs. But that didn't stop her. She wouldn't wear one of those artificial legs,
and she only used one crutch. She could do everything the average person could
do but run. That's the only thing. Everything else she could do. She didn't ask
nobody to help her or take pity on her or nothing like that. That was her heart.
The day she died it was in the obituaries that she didn't have any children by
birth, but she had them all by heart. So we all, her nieces and nephews were her
children. I miss her..."![]()
