Lynne Hawkinson's Personal Information

For the curious, here it is.

I am a rising sophomore at Hollins University, which makes me nineteen years old. I was born in a trailer in the middle of the swamp, where I fell out of a window when I was about sixteen months old... which explains a lot.

When I am autopsied at my inevitable untimely death, the doctors will make two startling discoveries: a) I am an alien invader and b) my basic element is not carbon, as with Earthlings, but instead caffeine. (Ah, you say, caffeine is not an element! Well, it is on my home planet, you ignorant Earth creature)!

To say I like coffee is rather like saying that the Tower of Pisa has a slight foundation problem. I also like cats, anime, video games, comic books (or, for the snooty, "graphic novels"), snakes, and stalking defenseless squirrels. I don't like having my car towed or taxes.

I was raised by my father to be a liberated woman who, nonetheless, worships Laura Schlessinger. He was partially successful; I am a liberated woman, but I still can't stand Doctor Laura.

My mother died of cancer when I was ten. I can't regret that this happened because of how strong it made me as a person. I respect and honor her memory, and I always keep in mind her good advice and great example. Mom was a very intense, responsible woman who always made the best of bad situations, and she, too, was a writer.

I also have a sister named Ginny. She's three and half years older than me, so we're always playing leap-frog, age-wise. She's the one who is responsible for me falling out of the window. And for the time I almost drowned. And for getting me in a car wreck when SHE was twelve and I was eight (yes, she WAS driving) that tipped the car upside down. So, Ginny is the one to watch out for, not me. (I am completely harmless).

I have been writing fiction since I was nine years old. I hope to make it my life's work, since it's the only thing that has ever held my interest. Although I also enjoy writing and drawing comic books (Exhibit A: Alise, to the left), I doubt I have the drive or the talent to make it in that field.

Since I was raised poor, I'm not really interested in money beyond what I need to eat-- however, I'm passionately interested in eating, so I hope to be successful enough to continue doing that, at least.
