A Short Life Story of Rachel

Rachel taking a break from her job in Media Services at Wyndham Robertson Library
I am a Women's Studies major at Hollins University, with a double minor in Creative Writing and Religious Studies. I hope to pursue a career as a scholar and writer, focusing on feminist spirituality, literature, and Celtic studies. I also hope to advocate social justice and equality as well as cultural relativism in a world that too often promotes narrow-minded and one-sided global policy.
My roots are in Bluefield, West Virginia, and I am passionate about Appalachian studies and countering stereotypes and views of Appalachia that have damaged the area and its people for far too long. I love mountains, and I'm definitely not a city gal! My roots extend across the ocean as well, and I have long been in love with the culture and people of Ireland, where I was lucky enough to get to spend four months last semester. I find myself most at home in the company of my family and friends, though, and I know I have only gotten to experience all these wonderful things that I have written about through their love and support.
