Course Objectives
to create a time and space for discussion of creative process
to read, view, research and discuss how artists have made work, problem solved, discovered motivations, explored intent and directions
to experiment with different processes for making performance work
to investigate how performance work relates to time and space
to gain a better understanding of personal style vs. technique
to compose and improvise
to explore how art can (and does) serve as a window on culture and society
to begin to investigate how we "read" performance and how we discuss what we "see"

DANC 340/Imaginative Thinking, Moving, and Crafting II
Instructor : Donna Faye Burchfield
This course examines dance as one of the many paths of expression for artists. We will make work both in the studio and on our own, we will show our work and discuss what we see and experience. We will discuss the work of artists today and begin to frame our understanding of how a work of art is created, viewed, positioned in a society and discussed.
Course Objectives

To expand one's personal creative vocabulary by enhancing awareness.
To broaden one's awareness of both traditional and non-traditional resources for creating work.
To question.
To develop skills for looking and talking about the work we investigate.
To look at current trends/ideas prevalent in the work of today's artist and discover how/if they inform our work.
To consider new paths of creative work.
To imagine.
