Hollins Dance Graduate Members

ShaLeigh Comerford began her dance training as a work-study scholarship student at the Roanoke Ballet Theatre. She graduated cum laude in 1998 from Hollins University with a BA in Studio Art and returned in 2000 for a Masters degree in Visual and Performing Arts. She has created, conducted, and directed creative programs for inner city youth, the artistically gifted, and children with special needs. Her research project was awarded the Janet McDonald Fund Grant which made possible the opportunity to study in New York City at the Trisha Brown Dance Studios as a part of the American Dance Festival NYC. As a participant of ADF she has had the opportunity to study under numerous teachers in Durham and New York City. Currently, she teaches at the Roanoke Ballet Theatre, tours with Young Audiences of Virginia and dances on the sides of buildings with RBT’s Ariel Ballet. She is a member of Roanoke Ballet Theatre’s Professional Dance Company and is honored to be a part of the Hollins Repertory Dance Company. She extends her deepest thanks to her family, friends, and the Hollins Dance community.
