Overview

This class is focused around the performance (both on campus and off-campus) of the Hollins Repertory Dance Company.

This company allows sudents the opportunity to perform and choreograph in a professional setting.

Time is used both for company class, meetings to organize events as needed, rehearsals, and essential time in the theater.

 

 

Course Objectives

To provide opportunities in performance for students with a strong interest in dance.

To enhance performance skills such as style, projection, energy and movment quality through studio work and rehearsal.

To give students first hand experience with all aspects of planning a dance concert such as publicity, public relations and front of house management.

To create an atmosphere that is supportive, where students and faculty give and engage in the processes of critical feedback...workshopping dances before public showings.

 

The study of technique is essential to participate in the company ensemble.
