Description of the Course/Overview

This course is specifically designed to allow an open space time for students to learn and explore repertory, study improvisation, engage in discussion topics, view and discuss relevent works of contemporary artists, show thier work, rehearse their work, ask questions about thier work, pull books from the dance shelf to explore further, and build community through both formal and informal settings.Constantly challenged to examine process, the group will be encouraged to focus on the interconnectedness of personal style, training, creating, imagination and critical thought.  Both formal and informal showings will conclude the course.

Course Objectives

To create a time and space for process, performance, dialogue and community building.

To encourage creative collaboration and group problem solving.

To experience different methods of performance coaching through an open studio setting, as well as through performances outside of the studio.

To gain a better understanding of personal style and preferences through composition and improvisation studies.

To explore the creative process through critical dialogue of work by fellow students.
