OUR MISSION

The Chaplain’s Office provides opportunities toward the exploration, understanding, and practice of spiritual and religious traditions. The office encourages a respect born from education about, and interaction with, diverse religious traditions, cultures, and practices in the community. Their
goal is to assist students, faculty, and staff to grow in curiosity, thoughtfulness, integrated and grateful living that embodies the university motto, Levavi Oculos.

Hollins University welcomes students and practitioners of all religious backgrounds. Historically, Hollins’ founder was a Christian, but decided against affiliating the institution with a denomination, while at the same time making sure that spiritual needs of students were addressed.

The duPont Center and Chapel stand beside the library as a reminder of the
spiritual nature of academic values, and to emphasize the connection of head and heart.
