The Music Department at Hollins University seeks to fill a full-time,
one-year faculty appointment
for Director
of Choral Activities with the possibility of
a renewal
appointment.
This position is
responsible for administering
the choral program; directing
two major choral ensembles;
teaching courses in conducting,
choral literature, and managing
tour planning; budget issues;
the choral library; and
maintaining a relationship with
the chapel and helping support
its programs.
Faculty members are
expected to engage in
appropriate creative and
scholarly endeavors, and to
serve the profession and the
university community.
The department seeks
candidates with a doctorate in
choral conducting and
demonstrated success in
organizing and maintaining a
successful choral program
(including conducting,
recruiting and touring).

Business - General

The Department of Economics and
Business at Hollins University
seeks to fill a tenure-track
assistant professorship in
general business starting in
fall of 2010.
Candidates
are sought who are
well-rounded with scholarly
expertise in either marketing or
organizational behavior, and who
are effective teachers with
demonstrated interest in
contributing to a rigorous,
liberal arts curriculum.
The
successful candidate will be
expected to teach courses in
marketing, organizational
behavior, human resources,
and/or women and
entrepreneurship depending on
expertise.
Hollins business faculty members
have opportunities to
collaborate with
interdisciplinary programs such
as international studies,
environmental studies, gender
and women's studies, and the
Batten Leadership Institute.
Responsibilities
of the position include teaching
six courses per year, advising
students, contributing to the
further development of the
business program, and sustaining
a program of scholarly research.
Completion
of the Ph.D.
is preferred by the time of
appointment.

Studio Art Position

The Art
Department at Hollins University
seeks to fill a tenure-track
studio art position (rank open)
in two-dimensional art.
Primary teaching
responsibilities include
beginning through advanced
drawing, figure drawing, and
studio senior seminar, with
other opportunities for course
development in response to
student needs and candidate’s
interest.
Examples
include collage, mixed media,
and non-objective art.
An
interest in printmaking is
desirable.
The
department seeks an experienced
teacher who has a demonstrated
commitment and passion for
undergraduate teaching with
desires to participate in the
life of a department that
emphasizes both the study and
practice of art and at a
university with a proud
commitment to its liberal arts
mission.
Opportunities
exist for collaborative efforts
in other creative areas such as
film, dance, theater, and
creative writing.
