Hollins University
is seeking qualified
candidates for the position of
Art
Historian-Modernist Visiting
Assistant Professor.
The Art Department,
housed in the Richard Wetherill
Visual Arts Center that opened
in 2004, offers state-of-the-art
teaching facilities and is an
ARTstor subscriber.
The Art
Historian-Modernist Visiting
Assistant Professor is a
full-time, non-tenure track,
one-year position in Modern Art
for the 2008-2009 academic year.
The teaching load is six
courses including Modern Survey,
History of Photography, American
Art, one course during January
term (an intensive,
specially-designed seminar), and
two additional upper-level
courses in the candidate’s area
of interest.
Successful
applicants must have a Ph.D.
(ABD may be considered) in art
history, and college teaching
experience is preferred.

Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the tenure-track position of
Assistant Professor of Physics
starting in fall of 2008.
Candidates with teaching
and research interests related
to environmental science are
strongly encouraged to apply.
Successful
candidate will be teaching
departmental service courses
such as calculus and
non-calculus based physics,
general physics, and ideally
physics courses that support the
interdisciplinary environmental
studies program.
Other duties include
conducting laboratories,
designing and supervising
undergraduate research, advising
students, and serving on
university-appointed committees
with other related
responsibilities.
Individual is also
expected to establish strong
externally-funded research that
involves undergraduate students
and possibly participate in
industrial collaborations.
Qualified
candidates must have Ph.D. in
physics or closely related
field.
All degree requirements
must be completed by May 2008.
Preference will be given
to applicants who have
demonstrated a strong commitment
to teaching at the undergraduate
level.
