Officially, we are the Physical Plant Department of Hollins University, but we answer to a variety of names from "maintenance" to the "people who fix and clean things." The Physical Plant Department is comprised of 52 employees in four different service units: Custodial, Grounds, Maintenance and Painting. Physical Plant is responsible for the maintenance and operation of campus buildings and grounds, major repairs and renovations. It is our job to fix the leaky roofs, paint and repair the walls, maintain the electrical and mechanical systems, keep the floors shiny and the restrooms clean, mow the grass and care for the trees and flowers. It is quite a responsibility and we take it very seriously.
