What are my username and password?

New students

  •  Usually*  your username is your first initial + your last name.

    • Jane Doe = jdoe

    • Jane Smithson = jsmithson

  •    Usually* your password is your month, date, and year of birth, a total of 6 digits.

    • February 3, 2001 = 020301

I tried this, but I still can't log on. What should I do?

  • * Your username and password may not follow the standard pattern.  For example, if there were 3 Mary Smiths, they could not all be msmith.  Call the helpdesk (x7777 on campus and 362-6538 from off campus) and they will have a staff member call you with your information.  Some people have asked that their birthday be removed from our system.  For those who made such a request, your password was set to the last 6 digits of your Hollins account number which is usually your social security number.  Abroad students may email ewitt@hollins.edu to find out the username if it does not follow the standard format.  A reply will be sent to the email address you use to submit the request.

Can I forward my WebMail e-mail to another e-mail address?

  •  Yes you can! After logging in to the system, click on Options at the top of the page. Click on Settings on the left side menu.  Under the heading Mail Forwarding, enter the email address where you would like to receive copies of your mail. *Keep in mind that these are copies. Your mail is still being sent to WebMail, so be sure you empty unwanted messages regularly.

How do I delete unwanted mail?

  • Login into Webmail, select the mail messages you want to delete and then click the delete icon at the top of the screen.  You select an individual message by clicking on the box to the left of the message.  You may select multiple messages at one time by clicking several boxes.  You may also select all the displayed messages for deletion by clicking in the box labeled 'Select All'.  After clicking the delete icon, messages will either be removed from the system, or if you have set the option to send deleted messages to the trash, they will be moved to the 'Deleted' mailbox.  If the messages are being sent to the Deleted mailbox, you must also open that mailbox by clicking on it , select the messages again and select delete.  This is a safety feature to protect against deleting messages you might want to keep.  However, it does make it twice as difficult to delete messages from the system.  To change mail options, click Options and then Settings.
