For this project you should find an interesting example of statistical inference (i.e. a confidence interval or significance test) which is reported in current media, i.e. an article in a newspaper, magazine, or journal, or on the world wide web. Include a copy of the article with a one page discussion of its use of statistics.
While you do not need to answer each of the specific questions listed below, your analysis should be guided by considering the following sort of questions:
What statistical techniques (of those we have discussed this semester) are illustrated in the article? Did the authors of the article do a good job of explaining the statistics? Do you think that the authors conclusions are justified from the information given in the article? What other information might you like to see with the article? Were conclusions based on data from a survey, observational study or an experiment? Was the method of obtaining the sample, or design of the experiment clearly explained in the article?
Finally, write down at least two specific questions, related to statistical issues, which you would like to ask the author(s) of the article.
