Polykleitos wrote a treatise on the proportions of the human body and the symmetry in sculpture, called the Kanon.
Set proportions for the head to the body (1:8).
Broader, thicker set and larger headed than earlier Pheidian sculptures.
More movement forward, but figure is in balance.
Other masterpiece is the Diadoumenos.
